Ok. I get it, I get it...

Be careful what you wish for... No sooner had I mentioned that I felt, wanted to walk away from online existance for a while when our cable went. I went nuts, for you see I wanted it on my terms, to have the choice not have a complete cut off imposed on me. I had one hell of a fight to finally get it back too...

Yes I am completely loony

Catch up...

Well, on the mum and dad health front mum will need to have that calcium/bony deposit (growing between her knee joint) scraped and removed, youch! Dad is doing much better his eyes were pretty scraped up and burned but his sight is clearing up now though he has to wear dark glasses and keeps the blinds closed as he finds everything a bit bright yet. He has become the resident family vampire lol! Oh the irony lol!

Over the week-end we had those rarely seen relatives from Dublin to stay, went shopping had a laugh it was great. We really should se them more often Besides that I think I need to take a net break, need to just walk away for a bit but you know I won't, masochist that I am...

What a pair...

Yesterday, in extreme pain, my mother landed at the hospital only to come back with crutches having been told the cruciate ligament in her knee is wrecked and that there subsequently has been some sort of wierd bone formation. This morning my father (who is 63 years of age) has someone ring , from hospital, to say another lorry driver [he's a hauler] is on his way to take him back home. Reason, his eyes are completely bandaged so he needs lead around, as he nearly blinded himself thanks to somehow being blasted in the face by dry cement.

[edit] Well the poor man is home... never felt so sorry for him, covered in cement from head to toe and all bandaged up. We've managed to sit him down, get his boots off and in 4 or so hours he can apparantly take the bandages off, he has almost an entire pharmacy home with him for his eyes. It must be so damn sore and frustrating *meep*

feeling strange

I've spent the majority of the day so far in the bath, sort of disconnecting, 'fading in and out' so to speak. Kept becoming aware every now and again that I was just sitting there, my head swimming with thoughts and noise, head in hands, but I couldn't do anything about it before I slipped off again. I only managed to shake it off and get out of the bath upon suddenly discovering I was shivering, freezing cold and the water icy. Someone turn the thoughts and feelings button off please...I can't seem to reach it....

*Roars*

Some days you just wonder why you bother, what is it that makes anyone think that their own personal issue with a forum admin is fodder to be discussed elsewhere? This person is not only a co-administrator (because I respect and value her experience and what she has to say) but I consider her a friend. To go elsewhere and ask why I 'keep her around' and to make personal remarks not only insults me but is totally tactless and uncalled for, especially since they are quite aware she is likely to see it, and shows no respect or regard for other members or staff on either forum to put them in a position of 'choosing sides' as it were

To say I am furious and disappointed is an understatement. Certain persons might be pissed but it needed saying, and I didn't even have to name names, but if your pissed and no-one even knows who you are, just imagine how I feel at having my judgement questioned and seeing a friend specifically targeted for derogatory comments because you disliked what they had to say and choose to take it as a personal attack, when in fact nothing was directed at you at all....

Busy, Busy, Busy

Yup, that's exactly what I've been with my sis here, she leaves tomorrow, and wedding things to get sorted out. The dress fitting went so much better than I thought and actually, they're a very pretty color - more of a purple than pink when looked at properly, yes I said pink... So we left pretty pleased and we don't have any sort of proper fitting again untill August thank gods! Now it's shoes we're after and I believe they'll be a silver sandal type of thing which will suit the dresses.

After the fittings My mum, sis and myself went to grab something to eat and then headed for the future Sister In Law's as she was throwing a party with most of the family, some of her friends and she had arranged a 'Psychic' who cost £15 a reading told every single one of us practiacally the same thing and was so obviously crap. Why you would on a one on one situation repeat, with a few embellisments, the same mantra to every single person who was read is beyond me, don't you fucking know we'll figure that out, duh..... Sadly I went in first, had I waited and heard time and time again the same thing being said from those already read I wouldn't have bothered my ass and wasted the money. Gah..

(as an aside, and late I know, hope everyone ahd a fabulous Mothers Day!)

Back to mundanity ;)

The gig was just totally brilliant Ginger you are the man. Amen (support) overplayed which meant that the 'hearts time was limited as they ahd a ferry to catch but every moment was worth it and I can't wait untill they come around again :)

My sis is coming over from Scotland tomorrow so I'm really looking forward to that and Monday we pick up up the bridesmaids dresses, after of course a fitting. Double bleugh..... I really, really detest it, poked and prodded and feeling silly in a huge flouncy dress it's so not me, I feel so uncomfortable and look ridiculous. I can't walk in heels after 20 odd years of DM's and huge boots, just ugh! Of course for her sake I will indeed put up with it but I wouldn't want to be around me on Monday i'll probably be a snappy bitch the whole time *eek...* and stressed to hell.

Makes me sound such a nasty customer eh? I'm not so bad, and I know if I'm stressed well, she's going through the roof! and I'm not helping by getting all 'uppity' about trying on a dress. It's just the fittings, if they would just on the day hand me a dress and that's that without all the production beforehand I'd be fine and I know on the day I won't even be thinking about what I'm wearing lol! However if's it's going to look right they have to do all that.......and I'm still gonna hate it :p

Yesterday

Strangely enough ended up back in the south of Ireland again, this time Dublin, to visit relatives. Left home about 8:30am and we didn't get back untill 1am. It was pretty good, we really only get to see these people maybe twice a year if I'm lucky so it's nice to catch up and there's always plenty to talk about due to the time lapse between visits lol!

Tonight is the Wildhearts gig. Can't wait. WOOT! *In best Ozzy voice* Rock 'n' Roooooooooooooolllllllllllllllll! ;)

BACK!

What a completely amazing 3 days, County Kerry is so breathtaking, it's hard to imagine all that being out there in the very country you live in and yet I've reached 31 and this is the first time I've seen it! For just some idea, not that you can really conceive of the scale, beauty and remoteness of the place untill you see it for yourself, Kerry : Kerry 2 : Kerry 3

We (mum and myself) left pretty early on the 29th as it's an eight or nine hour drive and we wanted to stop and break it up too, arrived at our hotel (Ballyroe Heights) just in time to dump our bags (we ended up with the honeymoon suite, can you believe it! lol!) and headed down to catch dinner. I highly recommend staying there too, the staff couldn't be nicer, the food is fabulous, so well presented and they don't skimp on it either! Totally exhausted, and knowing we wanted to head off to Dingle to see 'Fungie' the resident dolphin, been there 20 years now, we decided on a few drinks in our room and some unpacking and sorting before we collapsed.

Woke up about 8ish in time for breakfast and headed off to Dingle, about 45km away, down to the harbour and to Slaidín, small cove just outside the harbour, where it seems the most interaction with the dolphin happens. And he didn't let us down! racing with the boat and leaping when it stopped, he was so playfull and fun, and such a cutie hehe! Unfortunately it poured down and gusted so no pics as everyone was busy trying to keep hoods and coats on and hiding cameras lest they get trashed. We had about an hour, then looking like drowned rats and frozen, but man it was worth it!, we had a little look around the town and headed back for dinner and then to get ready as we were off to the theatre where the national folk theatre of Ireland (Siamsa Tíre) had just opened, early I believe, a production of Oileán

quote
This latest production by Siamsa Tíre celebrates and explores Blasket Island living while also challenging our own notions of identity as contemporary islanders. Capturing the spirit of this island community, their traditions and customs, their wealth of song and story, their love and their strong kinship with one another /quote

It was stunning, extremely moving and recieved a standing ovation. Even those , like myself, who may have been far from fluent in Irish, mine is very basic - shame on me.., couln't fail to be touched and understand what was happening.

Next day we decided that having come so far we would see as much as we could so decided to do the ring of Kerry which took up most of the day and is so worth doing, it's amazing, awe inspring stuff. Picked up a chinese, yum, on the way home had a few drinks in the bar and headed back up to the room to very sadly pack and get ready to leave the next morning.

I want to go back, I want to see so much more of Ireland in general. I've never felt more connected, so reminded of of a culture and history that is my own. That's almost worth the trip alone :)
